| Synopsis:
Vann Siegert
(Owen Wilson) is a placid drifter who rolls into a quaint coastal
town looking to start over. Despite his appearances and demeanor
he is a serial killer that floats around the country choosing
his victims from people who are unsatisfied with their lives.
His murders are introduced with the killing of asthmatic junkie
(Sheryl Crow). The killer then settles into a seaside rooming
house run by an unhappy married couple (Brian Cox, Mercedes
Ruehl) and waits for his next victims to unveil themselves.
Imaginary cops (Dennis Haysbert, Dwight Yoakam) plague his daydreams
while he is completing or hiding his murders. Meanwhile, he
also starts an affectionate relationship with a postal clerk
(Janeane Garofalo), which momentarily misleads one into thinking
he is ready to give up his murderous life. |
